Waimanalo Landfill Cells E5, E6, and E7 Extension

HAI provided construction quality assurance (CQA) services for the extension of Cells E5. E6, and E7 at the Waimanalo Landfill located in Kapolei, Hawaii. The extension of Cells E5/E7 East liner system was approximately 60,078 ft2 and Cell E6/West Berm liner system was approximately 60,991 ft2 on the landfill side slopes with a slope steepness ranging from 1.6H:1V to 2H:1V. The project slope liner system consists of a soil cushion layer, geosynthetic clay liner, 40-mil and 60-mil high-density polyethylene (HDPE) geomembrane, a leachate removal and collection system (LCRS) within a gravel layer, and an operations layer. HAI was tasked with monitoring, sampling, testing, and documenting construction activities and materials in accordance with specifications to ensure quality work.
